Mayra Flores made history Tuesday night when she became the first Mexican-born Republican woman to win election to Congress.
Flores, who will represent Texas's 34th district, emerged victorious in a district that voted overwhelmingly for Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
Celebrating the win, Flores tweeted:
"This historic win will bring back God to the halls of Congress! This win is for the people who were ignored for so long! This is a message that the establishment will no longer be tolerated! We have officially started the red wave!! #TX34 God, Family, Country"
Flores's family legally immigrated to America when she was a child and she plans to defend the America she knows and loves.
"The far left are destroying the American dream. When I was little my family legally immigrated to America," said the congresswoman-elect. "They taught me conservative values: faith, family, & hard work. I will not let the far left & socialist policies by the Biden Administration destroy this great country."
